Lookna – Helping Legit Business Reach Their Potential Customers

In a perfect world, you would have an unlimited budget to market your business in order to find new customers and increase sales. You could buy lots of online and offline advertising, run promotions to build traffic in store and online, and launch a proactive public relations campaign to increase your product or brand's visibility and awareness. But this isn't a perfect world. Realistically, most small businesses and even many mid-sized firms have more great ideas on how to peddle their wares than available resources.

So where do you start if you are looking for more customers? Learning to generate new sales leads is an essential skill for an entrepreneur.

In Lookna, we'd like to make things easier and fair. Forget the old ways of research and composing of ads in limited characters. We provide a simple and straightforward listing that shows important information about your business such as your business name, address, operating hours & more. We also aim to provide unbiased advertising opportunity by providing fair and equal opportunity to all business owners.

How to Find New Customers and Increase Sales? The answer is, Understand Your Target Audience. Before you can find new customers and increase sales, you need to understand who your customer is, what value proposition you offer to customers, and what your competition is currently offering in the market and where there are gaps for a new entrant. In other words, you need to do some market research – whether that means hiring an outside firm to do the legwork or trying to do it yourself. There's an underlying disconnect between your motivation to increase sales and your customer's motivation to solve their problems. Certain products and services may appeal to one audience but not to another, so understanding the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in your target market is critical. You can get to know your customers and segment the market any number of ways including by:

Demographics-- statistical data on a population including income levels, age, etc.

Psychographics -- the attitudes and tastes of a certain demographic.

Ethnographics -- examination of particular cultures.

Buying habits -- how what and where customers purchase products and services.

Internet marketing is alive and well, and growing by leaps and bounds.  The environment of the Internet and the virtual business world offer more potential for connecting your business with potential consumers than any other medium, past or present.

Unfortunately, as business owners, we know that every one of our competitors understands this same concept. They are also working just as hard as we are to figure out how to best maximize their online marketing strategy.  After all, the name of the game is to place our product or company squarely in front of potential online customers.

Lookna ensures that all services and listings that you will see are accurate and from a legit business owner, that is why we provide verification process before a listing will be shown to searchers. Because of that, you can be sure that advertisers who subscribe to Lookna are real service providers and not just middlemen who act as the link between the service providers and customers.

A Freelancer's Favorite Place: Dojo 8 Coliving Space

Coworking spaces are very important to freelancers like me. If you are not so sure what I am talking about, a coworking space is a place with a shared working environment like an office or something like a study area at home. The only difference is that the people using it are usually not employed by the same company or organization.

Though there are a lot of variations in terms of the ambiance or atmosphere, a strong and fast internet connection, as well as a reliable generator (in case of power outages), are constant in coworking spaces.

I was still in Manila when I started using coworking spaces. There is no doubt that the availability of these work areas has saved me every time there are power outages or internet failure and I cannot afford to miss work. Thus, when we moved to Bacolod, it was one of the things I looked for ASAP.

Luckily, we were able to find Dojo 8 Coworking Spaces. It is located at Lacson Street, Bacolod near Starbucks Lacson. The place is very accessible and rates are really cheap. Not to mention they offer unlimited coffee. Then earlier this year, they opened their second branch at the back of Bar 21 named Dojo 8 Coliving Spaces.  By the way, this is not a sponsored post.

Dojo 8 Coliving Spaces is not your typical coworking space. So, let me share with you the top 5 things why it is so popular among freelancers and students.

1. Overnight Accommodation - Dojo 8 have rooms available in case you need to stay overnight. They are very spacious, clean and affordable. It is also very ideal for travelers who still need to work and can't really rely on their hotel's wifi service. My friends from Dumaguete stayed at Dojo 8 for quite a number of times and they love it.

2. Location - They are located in the heart of Bacolod City. As mentioned, they are at the back of Bar 21, a restaurant that provides a fusion of Filipino delicacies combined with Italian and American favorites (You can read about our Bar 21 Review here) and Bob's Cafe just across the street. There is also a Japanese restaurant a few steps away.

3. Recreational  Facilities and Fun Environment - Dojo 8 provides ping pong tables and other outdoor games. They also have the garden area and some chairs outside which means that you have options on where you want to stay. You're not just limited to an air-conditioned room sitting on a chair.

4. Pet-Friendly - As a fur parent, this meant a lot to me. At Dojo 8, you can work while your dogs play on the lawn. No need to leave our furbabies alone at home. Thus, I am looking forward to bring Crumpy, Cheesecake, and Cinderella soon. (I am thinking if we would be allowed to visit together or there is a limit on the number of dogs one can bring.)

5. Events - Dojo 8 Coliving Spaces is now central to freelancer events here in Bacolod. They hold both free and paid seminars and workshops. Last January, they had the HOW TO START A HOME-BASED CAREER SEMINAR organized by The Purple Secretary and last May 12, the Freelancer Meet-up organized by the Digital Career Advocates of the Philippines.

And aside from all of these, I love working at Dojo 8 because you get to be surrounded by like-minded people who want to be productive.

So, don't forget to follow Dojo 8 Coliving Spaces on Facebook for event updates and promotions.

Where to buy discounted Hongkong Disneyland Tickets? No, it's not just at Klook.

It's almost a month since we went to Hongkong Disneyland and despite our research before the trip, there are still a lot of things that we discovered once we got there thus, making us excited to go back soon.

This includes the best place where we can get discounted Hongkong Disneyland tickets. If you remember, we got our 2-Day Hongkong Disneyland Tickets from Klook which I mentioned from my previous post

Klook's offer for the 2-Day Hongkong Disneyland is still one of the best deals you can ever find. You can purchase the 2-day pass for only HKD 633 at Klook. Then, you can purchase using this link or use the code: B6K8X to instantly get HKD 25 off. Bringing the ticket rate down to HKD 608.

However, we discovered that it is not always the cheapest at Klook. Let me share this to give you a better picture of the price comparison.

TWO-DAY HONGKONG DISNEYLAND PASS

Park Regular Rate -  HKD 729
Park Promotional Rate -  HKD 629 (This offer is valid until July 14, 2017)
Airport Ticket Rate - HKD 720
Klook Ticket Rate - HKD 633
Klook with Coupon Code - HKD 608

Now, if you just plan to spend only 1 day in Disneyland then it is definitely another story when it comes to ticket prices.

ONE-DAY HONGKONG DISNEYLAND PASS

Park Regular Rate - HKD 589
Park Play and Dine Offer - HKD 589 (This offer includes one-day ticket and free combo meal worth $99- $139 valid until July 14, 2017)
Airport Ticket Rate - HKD 540
Klook Ticket Rate - HKD 540
Klook with Coupon Code - HKD 515

As you can see you have different options on where to get discounted tickets to Hongkong Disneyland. If you're planning a one-day visit before July 14 then it would be best to grab your tickets directly from their website and get the Play and Dine Offer since food inside the park is quite pricey.

However, if you plan to visit for 2-days then it would be cheapest through Klook. Just make sure to make use of the available promotional codes. If you need more Klook coupon codes, feel free to email me at clarice.mymetrolifestyle@gmail.com.

Random Thoughts about staying AHEAD in Life: Schools and the Future

I am here at Bacolod - Silay International Airport waiting for my flight. If you are wondering where I am going, I am flying back to Cebu again to spend more time with my family. This is actually my 3rd trip to the Queen of the South within a month and I am very thankful that my current job allows me to travel anytime I want.

For the past few weeks, Val and I are working on one of our passion projects. Since we have been very blessed, it's about time that we pay it forward. We want to help graduating students find their dream jobs. As we were discussing on how to address the gap that hinders them from having gainful employment, we found out that there are actually several factors affecting their success.

Based on a study conducted by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), graduates of the top 3 educational institutions in the Philippines are hired faster and paid more by employers.

Most corporate recruiters and HR professionals will deny this but this is actually the hard truth. According to one of my favorite bloggers, Tina Perez of www.mrswise.tk, "We are living in a third-world country. And whether we like it or not, where our children graduated from matters a lot." (You can read more about her blog post, here.)

Luckily, I studied at Ateneo from kindergarten to college. So, based on my personal experience, finding a job was quite easy. I got invited to more interviews and got hired faster. Though HR professionals or recruiters won't really say it, I believe that my school has something to do with it and it was one of my advantages. I remember too when I applied to one of the biggest consumer brands here in the country, we were filling out an online application form and there was a dropdown of the list of schools. If you can't find your school on the list, you have no way to proceed with your application. We believed that was their discreet way of shortlisting applicants. When I was working as an online recruiter, I have clients who preferred and prioritized the graduates of the "big" schools for an interview.

I realized that education is a huge investment but worth it. It is the best gift of a parent to his or her children. (So, Papa and Mama - if you are reading this, THANK YOU!)

However, have you thought about what happens if one fails their college entrance exam? How will it affect a person's life? I had a friend who had the money but unfortunately, did not pass the exam in Ateneo. Thus, he was forced to enroll in another school. This detour has definitely changed the next 4 years or more of his life.

Not getting in the "big" school does not necessarily mean doomsday. However, this means that at this crucial point of their lives, right before college, we should readily support our child's future by ensuring that they get accepted in a reputable school. Why take the risk when we can give them more? Enrolling them in a review center is one of the things that we can do for them.

Based on my research, one of the leading and most awarded tutorial and review center in the country is AHEAD TUTORIAL AND REVIEW. They are the first to offer Test-Based Reviews for the country’s most competitive admission exams, namely the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT), the Ateneo College Entrance Test (ACET), and the De La Salle University College Entrance Test (DLSUCET). They have been in the business since 1995 and have several branches in Metro Manila as well as in Baguio and Tuguegarao.

AHEAD TUTORIAL AND REVIEW take pride in their learning programs where students not only prepare for academic excellence, they have also come to embrace their role as future leaders of the global community.

Their services include the following:
  • Review Programs - These are designed to help students get into the university of their dreams. Their programs help students focus on their lessons, guide them towards topics to be studied, provide them with the right reference materials, and motivate them to study harder.
  • Tutorial Programs - These are one-on-one and small-group tutorial programs where students get undivided attention and care. Students are assigned tutors who match their personality and requirements. With the right support, children become all that they can possibly be.
  • Online Programs - AHEAD Tutorial & Review Center has developed an online learning platform designed to help learners work through their everyday academic concerns. Through AHEAD Online, students can review for their exams, finish their homework, and study their lessons in advance in the comfort of their own home. Students will have one-on-one reviews with expert tutors through video-conferencing platforms in a clear and seamless manner. This is actually my favorite among their offerings.
What I like about this center is that they have very good feedback from their students plus, their online programs is one of a kind. Making you maximize the sessions without being affected by external factors like traffic which will either get you so tired or lazy.

Anyway, I will be boarding the plane in a bit. Just share your thoughts in the comments section below. If you have more questions, you may email AHEAD directly at info@ahead.edu.ph or call them at (02) 426-0034 to 36 or 0917-89 (AHEAD) 24323.

Cebu Getaway: Enjoy an Exclusive Tour in a Resort Paradise + Buffet Lunch for less Php 750

Summer may be over but that does not stop us from enjoying the sun, sea and the sand. Just a few kilometers away from the Cebu Mactan International Airport presents a paradise with such a beautiful view.

Costabella Tropical Beach Resort provides guests with an inviting yet cozy ambiance. It has a direct access to Mactan's beautiful coastline enabling everyone to enjoy the clear waters and the fine white sand it offers. One thing that we really loved about Costabella Beach Resort is that the surroundings are well maintained and it's clean. We also liked that their lifeguards and staff are very attentive.

Though the place is 4-star resort, it is very affordable. One can enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch with a lovely rondalla music for only Php 1,100 per person. This already includes resort entrance and the use of beach facilities and swimming pools.

Not to mention they have a Buy 2+1 free promo (ending on 06.30.17) which makes it less than Php 750 per person. Kids below 4 years old also get to eat for free.

Good deal, right? And, what is a better way to spend a Sunday than be with family?

Val and I definitely enjoyed our weekend getaway in Cebu. So, if you are planning to take a quick break and chill out, then you might want to consider Costabella Tropical Beach Resort. (BTW, this is not a sponsored post.)

Also, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, there are also parasailing and banana boat activities available which I would really love to try. (Probably, next time!)

For bookings and reservations, you may contact Costabella Tropical Beach Resort at  (032) 231-4244. They are located at Buyong, Mactan Island, Cebu 6015, Philippines. You may also follow them on Facebook for updates.

7 Secrets and Tips You Should Know When Visiting Hongkong Disneyland

We just got home from Hong Kong and spent 2 days in Disneyland to celebrate my mom's birthday. There is no doubt that it is the happiest place on earth. I was crying while watching Mickey and the Wondrous Book show (tears of joy!) However, visiting Hongkong Disneyland is also one of the most tiring experiences I had in my whole life. Seriously, my feet are so tired but I could barely walk once we're back at the hotel.

Anyway, for those who are planning to visit, let me share some tips on how you can make the most out of your Disneyland experience.

1. Visit the City Hall

Don't forget to drop by the City Hall. It is located in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A., close to the Main Entrance to the park. They handle customer service concerns as well as provide assistance in dining reservations, currency exchange, and park information. There is also an ATM in case you need one.

For first time visitors, you can ask them for a First Time Visitor Badge. If it's your birthday, you can also get a special Birthday Badge from Disneyland.

2. Fastpass Service

Fastpass Service is a ticketing system that virtually “saves” your place in the queue for some of your favorite attractions. This allows you to enjoy the park and then come back to the attraction during the return time printed on your FASTPASS Ticket. This is absolutely free though not all attractions have it.

Currently, it is available for Hyperspace Mountain, The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh and Iron Man Experience.

3. Use Coupons for Discounted Meals

Don't forget to get a free copy of the Hong Kong 20th Anniversary Coupon Booklet to enjoy deals around the city.  This is available at the Hong Kong International Airport Visitor Centre and in selected hotels and inns in the city. Use the Disneyland coupon and get 20% off from meals. These are accepted in all dining outlets at the park.

4. Prepare Your Rain Gear

It was raining during our 2-day visit but that did not stop us from enjoying the park. Though there are rain ponchos for sale (approximately HK$ 55), it would be cheaper and more practical to bring your own rain poncho which is cheaper if bought outside.

5. Shop at Professor Porter's Trading Posts

Most shops sell identical items but one should not miss the chance to shop at Professor Porter's where you can score great deals and sale items. Can you imagine getting discounts from 50-70% off when you buy 2 or 4 item?

I was able to get Mickey Mouse shoes for only HK$50 (regular price of HK$ 298) and shirts at 70% off. I got a couple of Star Wars shirts for Val at HK$60 each instead of the regular price of HK$ 198.

6. Skip the line at the Disneyland Railroad

One should not miss taking the Disneyland Railroad to get a complete tour around the park. This is the first attraction you will see when entering the park making it really crowded in the morning. Thus, it is suggested that you take the ride in the afternoon or instead, board from the Fantasyland station rather at the Main St.

7.  Purchase Discounted Disneyland Tickets

Get your Disneyland tickets at discounted rate from Klook. One day pass is available for only HK$ 540 (Original Price is HK$ 589) Plus, Klook coupons also allow you to proceed directly to the entrance and skip the long queue.

How about you? Do you have something to share about your Hongkong Disneyland experience? Feel free to comment below.
