Don't miss this GrabCar User Life Hack!

I am such a huge fan/ loyal user of GrabCar. With a lot of promotions, safe and reliable rides, one cannot deny the fact that it is more practical to just use the app than drive your own car (in most cases.)

If you are not familiar or not sure what I am talking about Grab is Southeast Asia's leading ride-hailing platform. It solves critical transportation challenges and makes transport freedom a reality for 620 million people in Southeast Asia. If you are interested, you can download the app for free from Google Play or IOS store. Click here to download the Grab app.

Now, here's the fun part. As I mentioned, grab has a lot of promotions and you can check the notifications tab in the app these promo codes as well as your phone messages since Grab also sends SMS for updates. For new users, you may use this Grab promo code: GRABFREE (not sure if it's still valid but this code gives you a free ride up to Php 300 off)

And that's not all, did you know that you can enjoy cashback on every GrabCar ride booked via the ShopBack Mobile App? Yes, you get a Php 5.00 rebate for every GrabCar booked aside from the promotion or discount code that is applied directly to your GrabCar fare.

So, just like Grab, Shopback is an app that you can download Google Play or IOS store. and you may download it here.

Now, you must remember that in order to get the rebate, you have to open your Shopback app first, click the RIDE button then, you will be routed to the Grab app. Once the Grab app opens, use as usual. Keep in mind to never open the grab app directly since you won't be eligible for the rebate. You may also read the full terms and conditions here.

As a smarter shopper, let us fast track your rebate points and get a bonus of Php 100 if you sign-up to Shopback via this link. Shopback does not only provide rebates for Grab but also to other sites such as Lazada,, Zalora, Althea and a lot more. Your rebates can be paid via Paypal or Bank Deposit.

How to disable video autoplay in facebook?

With the constant updates and new features introduced in Facebook, most of us are left with no choice but to simply accept the changes.

One change that I really did not like was the autoplay feature of the videos, Since I am a scaredy cat, I could not help panic when horror clips play automatically. I hate it more when the spammy adult content videos circulating the network would also play on its own. I could not imagine when kids borrow phones and can see adult content. It's just too risky and scary for parents.

So, if you are wondering if you can disable the autoplay feature of our facebook video? Well, I am so glad that yes, we can and it actually pretty simple.

Just follow these steps:
  1. From the top right of Facebook, click and select Settings.
  2. Click Videos in the left menu (normally below the support inbox link)
  3. Check Autoplay Videos settings and select Off.
Is it easy to display the autoplay feature? If yes, please share this post.

Do you have any other facebook related questions, feel free to comment it below and we'll try to feature the answers.

Quick Getaway from Bacolod City

Summer vacation is almost over! Since classes are starting on June 5, Val and I decided to have a quick getaway this weekend. (If you just met us or just discovered this blog, my husband, Val is a teacher in one of the public schools in Bacolod City.)

Since we wanted to just have a quick getaway without breaking the bank, we opted to visit Don Salvador Benedicto. They call it the "Baguio" of Negros but we think it's more of the "Tagaytay" of Negros. It has a cooler climate and one can expect to see lots of greenery and pine trees. It is approximately a one-hour ride from Bacolod City. The roads are good and cemented. If you plan to commute, there are a lot Ceres buses that you can take from the terminal.

When going to Don Salvador Benedicto, you will take the Bacolod-Murcia highway (The same one that you would take when you are traveling to Cebu by land which I will share in a separate post.) Your first stop is the lion's statue that welcomes you to the municipality.

Also, take time to visit the viewing deck as you can see mini rice terraces below.

Restaurant choices in Don Salvador Benedicto are quite limited. Since we wanted one that has a good view, we had our lunch at the Mountain View Resort Bar and Restaurant.

Estimated budget is Php 300-500 per head. Though there is nothing really fancy or special about the food at the Mountain View Resort Bar and Restaurant,  it's definitely clean and reasonable.

Another stop is the Malatan-og falls viewing deck. It is where you can enjoy the cool breeze and wonderful view. If you are lucky, there's also fog that you can enjoy. Malatan-og falls viewing deck is also where we buy locally made banana chips for pasalubong. It is only Php 10 per pack and it is really good.

There are other resorts in Don Salvador Benedicto such as Balokon Spring Resort which was a bit crowded when we checked as well as Jomax Peak where we never had luck securing a booking. Well, you don't really need a reservation or resort accommodation to enjoy Don Salvador Benedicto. The place on its own is already a treat. We even saw others just parking their car along the road, brought food and enjoyed the surroundings.

Also, let us share with you one last tip: When heading home, don't forget to drop by the pine trees lining the road with the not so visible I LOVE DSB sign. It is a great place to have your souvenir picture taken.

How about you? Do you have other quick getaway recommendations in Negros?

Thus, we are long term consumers of Pedigree products from Denta Stix to Wet and Dry Dog Food. Cheesecake, Cinderelly and Crumpy simply loves them. By the way, this is not a sponsored post but let me share that Pedigree is giving out goodie bags to all furbabies.

How do you view your facebook birthday video?

I had a blast celebrating my birthday and overwhelmed by the birthday greetings from family, friends, and clients. Though we may say that facebook was primarily responsible for reminding them about your day, still I am very grateful that they took the time and effort to send me a private message or write in my timeline. I even have one client and friend, Sha Nacino who is a well-known inspiration speaker and author, the Founder of the 90 Day Book Writing Challenge who took the time to shoot a video for me. I am so touched. :)

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sent their gifts. I couldn't be more blessed. Anyway, going back to the original purpose of this post is how to view your facebook birthday video.

Technically, it is a video from facebook that will show on the top of your timeline the day after your birthday to highlight photos and messages from friends. Though it will automatically show on your timeline, one may realize that after viewing it, you may have no idea how to view it again.

Fret not! The video is not really gone but you may check your facebook birthday video as well as other videos created by facebook for you via this link:

And just like other personalized videos Facebook has created, you can edit the clips by adding or removing specific posts.

So, thank you facebook for the wonderful birthday video. You have indeed become a big part of how people celebrate birthdays over the years.

Top 5 Things to Instantly Glam Up Your Look

Since it's my birth month, Val had been surprising me with my favorite things including a dinner date last week. Since we were a bit in hurry and it was totally unplanned, I just had to quickly prepare myself before we go out thus, I am thankful for these tricks that can instantly glam up one's look.

After all, whatever the occasion is, one must not forget to prepare oneself because every woman deserves to be beautiful.

Here are the top 5 tips to instantly glam up your look:

1. Add sparkle by wearing some jewelry

Whether you choose to wear, earrings, bracelets or necklaces, adding these little accents to your outfit can instantly glam up your look. Though my personal favorite is a pair of pearl earrings that can definitely brighten my face.

2. Tie a scarf to your bag.

Use some old scarves to give your bag a makeover. Just simply tie it around the handle. Voila! You get a new-looking handbag.

3. Wear a belt

A perfect way to accentuate your waistline in an outfit is by wearing a stylish belt. Just play around with the different sizes and color that would perfectly match your outfit.

4. Slip on a pair of heels.

The right footwear in an ordinary outfit can make a huge difference. Avoid wearing flats or slippers. A little height may be a little bit uncomfortable but glamming up for a few hours in a special event is definitely worth it.

Whether you put on light or heavy make-up, having beautiful, long eyelashes can definitely give you a boost of confidence and making your eyes look brighter.

How about you? Do you have other tips to instantly glam up? Just share it in the comments section below.

The Future is Awesome: Samsung Happy Home

The Back to the Future Movie Day was celebrated in the US last October 21, 2015. Who would have known that the 1989 movie will give us a glimpse on what our future will look like? Flying cars and floating highways maybe far from reality but I’m sure these pictures will refresh your memory.

Up-close visual experience using VR glasses

Crisp Sound and Visual Effects

Extra Large TV Screens

Put them all together, just like what Doc said, "Great Scott! Here is the Samsung SUHD." VR glasses, maybe its limit, but the visual up-close experience, crisp audio, and size of the screen will definitely bring the house down. Samsung Ultra High Definition is a new range of 4K Ultra HD TVs. SUHD raise the bar of home entertainment solutions using nano-crystal technology to make the body of the TV lighter and thin, but yet powerful enough to produce 64 times more color expression than a regular TV.

SUHD TV itself is already a killer, but to bring your viewing experience to a whole new level, SUHD TV also has a stylish curve sound bar equipped with multi-channel speakers and side speakers that enhance the surround sound, for a heart pounding and eye popping TV experience. To top it all, Samsung Wireless Audio 360 produces balanced sound in all directions that you can maximize through its built-in WI-FI technology. I’m telling you seeing this bad boy first hand in action was a blast, I was so carried away I didn’t realize what’s happening around me, I was totally hooked, didn’t know that Clarice took this picture.

Yeah! That’s me, on a pink shirt, guilty as charged
Aside from home entertainment system, Samsung also expands their artillery in making the perfect happy home by upgrading the lifestyle of Filipinos. Close to the idea of a retractable voice activated fruit basket from Back to the Future 2 movie. Samsung revolutionized the “fridge within the fridge” design, providing plenty of room in their Food Showcase Refrigerators.

Out of the fridge, cooking your food is a different ball game, but no worries because Samsung Smart Oven is there to save the day. Remember how Marty’s mom hydrates the pizza in the movie? That’s nothing compared to what Samsung Smart Oven can do. Truly an all in one cooking solution with a health conscious system that allows the oil /fuss free frying and grill, thanks to its Slim Fry Technology.

Another thing that Samsung wanted to address is the cooling system inside our homes. Living in a tropical country, high temperature and humidity affect the comforts of our homes. Once again, Samsung has one more trick up their sleeves to aid this need. Using the latest technology, Samsung created AR7000, an air conditioner that features a triangular design enabling quicker, further, and wide cooling. It also features the “Virus Doctor” that filters and keeps the air clean.  And the best part, it has a WI-FI function that will allow you to control it anytime, anywhere.

From the living room, into the kitchen, out to the backyard, Samsung is still on top of its game in dealing with your dirty laundry. Understanding the pain that you go through every time you seat or squat just to do your laundry, they have created the Samsung Activdualwash, which fused ergonomic design with the state of the art technology. It has a dedicated built-in sink, washboard and water jet built right into the washer making your laundry experience less tedious.

Generally, having all of these is part of one's dream home enabling families to comfortably lounge around the house and enjoy life's simple pleasures such as watching TV, munching on comfort food and making chores easier. A perfect showcase that families can enjoy conveniences and possibilities that is made by Samsung. Something that we can all look forward to. Some of part of it may not be written yet, but it will keep on coming until we are sent back to the future.

So, don’t miss the chance of seeing up close these great innovations perfect for your #happyhome at the Samsung Happy Home Roadshow at Ayala The North District Point Bacolod until October 25. Just like Dr. Brown has set, the future has finally arrived.

You may visit also the Samsung Philippines’ fanpage or follow them in twitter @samsungph for more information. Full details and product images are available at

Novuhair Summer Hair Care Tips

I confess that summer is not my favorite season. No matter how much I love going to the beach, I don't enjoy being under the heat of the sun. Whenever we visit, I would rather enjoy the salty smell of the sea breeze under a beach hut and try avoiding the summer sun as much as I could.

After all, spending extended hours under the extreme summer sun can pose serious dangers to our hair and scalp. It is the same UV rays that bring damage to our skin without proper protection can equally hurt your hair and scalp.

Below are some of the problems your hair can encounter during the season:

  • Split-Ends - UV rays and extremely high temperature can take their toll on your strands. The heat drains the moisture of your hair out causing breakage.
  • Double Trouble – Rebonded or permed hair needs extra attention as high temperature well as humidity disrupts the cuticle breaking some of the chemical bonds that keep the hair straight or curls and roughing up the cuticle, taking away shine and smoothness.
  • Scalp problem – Scalp may also get sun-burned if you don’t use cover-ups for your head.
  • Grease problem – Summer sun and humidity can bring extra grease on your hair, leaving it vulnerable to damage.
  • Chlorine Stress – Swimming in the pool subjects your hair to chlorine. The outer layers of the cuticle of the hair opens up when you swim and chlorinated water seeps into the center of the hair thus making your hair more brittle.
  • Excessive Salt Water – Salt water can cause the same damage as chlorinated ones. Salt water dries on the hair it creates a high-saline solution which can build up and cause hair to feel dry, weighed down and hard to manage.
However for instances that we really can't avoid going out or for others who really loves the sun, salt and the sea, we don't need to worry because all these problems can be addressed by these simple hair care tips.

1. Keeping your hair clean and showered after each activity.

2. Take vitamin supplements or healthy food that are rich in Vitamin C and Biotin that benefit your hair.

3. Getting your hair pampered will also give respite to the sun and chemical abuse.
4. Use Novuhair - Nature’s answer to hair loss is composed of 19 Natural ingredients with some of the known medicinal plants such as Ginger, Pennywort and Ginseng blended with natural essences of rosemary and peppermint.

Novuhair nourishes the scalp and hair by increasing the flow of nutrients and improving blood circulation to the scalp which is very important after subjecting your hair from all your summer activities.  Novuhair also helps hydrate the scalp, maintain the hair’s natural luster and prevent early hair graying, hair dryness and itching. #NovuhairSummer. Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion, Shampoo, and Conditioner are available in all Mercury Drug Stores and other leading drug stores nationwide.

Top 5 Dog Movies You Shouldn't Miss

Every furparent would love to watch a dog film until the part where the dog dies. No matter how much we tell ourselves it's not true and just a fictional story, we all end up crying a bucket of tears. As they say, it is better for humans to die in the movie as long as the dog survives. Do you agree? (I'm so bad.)

This Sunday, Crumpy, Cheesecake and Cinderelly would like to share the top 5 dog movies you shouldn't miss.

1. Marley and Me - Newlyweds John and Jenny Grogan played by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston moved to Florida, where they are starting their life as a married couple. Then, the Grogans decide to adopt Marley, an adorable yellow Labrador pup. But Marley soon grows up to be a mischievous and naughty dog. Despite all the adventures, Marley still manages to bring out the best in John, Jenny and their growing family.

2. 8 Below - In the frozen wasteland of Antarctica features a tale about the bonds of friendship and loyalty. Three members of a scientific expedition, Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker), his friend Cooper (Jason Biggs) and an American geologist (Bruce Greenwood), must leave their beloved sled dogs behind after a devastating accident and increasingly perilous weather conditions. The dogs struggle to survive on their own during the harsh Antarctic winter.

3. Hachi: A Dog's Tale - A college professor played by Richard Gere finds a dog on a train station and forms a lasting bond with him. (This is a personal favorite and this is based on a true story.)

4. Max - A highly trained service dog (Max) was too traumatized to remain in service after his handler U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott was killed in Afghanistan. He was instead adopted by Kyle's family back in the U.S. Kyle's teenage brother Justin (Josh Wiggins) has problems of his own and doesn't want the animal. However, Max may be Justin's only chance to learn what really happened to his brother. Justin and Max begin to bond and set out to unravel and find out more about the mystery of Kyle's death.

5. Legally Blonde 2- Yes! You read that right. It is not purely a dog movie but this movie about Elle Woods (played by Resse Witherspoon) is about her journey to Washington, D.C., to have her say about animal rights, but is ignored by every politician she encounters and quickly learns that the White House can be even tougher to navigate than the Ivy League. It is a great reminder to all of us to be the voice for all our dogs and other animals.

Some of these movies really have sad endings but still, a must match. Just like having a dog, we all know that due to their short lifespan, owning one will lead to a major heartbreak (especially when they cross the rainbow bridge) however, it's owning a dog is definitely worth the pain.

Ending this post with my favorite quote from Anatole France, "Until you have loved an animal, a part one's soil remains unawakened."

How to Manage Long Hair During Summer

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% mine.

Having long hair during summer may not be the best idea. With the heat, sun, and humidity, one may just simply resort to immediately cut his or her hair short. However, for someone like me who does not want to really have short hair, these tips have been helpful on how to manage long hair this summer time.

Please note that some tips are also applicable even if you have short hair.

1. Avoid blow drying.

Since hair is all stressed due to the summer heat. We should try as much as we could to reduce its exposure to heat and thus, avoiding blow drying unless it is completely necessary. Summertime is the best time to simply air-dry your hair and go for the natural look.

2. Get as much protection.

Yes, you read that right. We need to protect our hair by covering it using a hat or scarf which would also help you retain moisture for your hair. There are also some shampoos available in the market that offers UV protection or simply put a little sunscreen lotion.

3. Use wide tooth comb instead of a regular brush.

Using a wide tooth comb is less harsh when you're untangling hair locks. Thereby, significantly reduces the stress we put on our crown of glory.

4. Put hair up in loose and comfortable styles using ponytails.

Ponytail does a good job in keeping your hair under control while minimizing its exposure to the sun. Drawstring ponytail is my personal favorite because it makes styling so easy.

You can order online via Divatress which is a leading beauty company that offers a wide selection of hair care products, accessories, and wigs. And yes! international orders are accepted. :)

How about you? Can you share your personal summer hair care tips?

Reasons Why Moms Are The Best + Cheesecake's New Litter

Mother's Day is a few months away but recent events made me realize how amazing moms are. A few weeks ago, my adopted furbaby, Cheesecake gave birth to 4 puppies. The delivery had some complications wherein the umbilical cord was not cut for 2 puppies and the last puppy got stuck for more than 12 hours. These made the puppies stressed and weak that they require extra care.

Taking care of newborn puppies is no different taking care of a human baby. One must make sure they have a clean environment, no one gets sat on, gets enough milk and they never get cold. Plus, they have to be breastfed every 2 hours. The bottom line is - as a furparent to newborn puppies, I could not afford to sleep because I have to watch them closely no matter how tired I was.

Just like moms - the responsibility is 24/7. No dayoffs or breaks. No matter how tired or sick they are. They have to attend to their children. This is the top reason why moms are simply the best. Their unconditional love for their babies (human or not) is so huge that they put their personal needs aside to attend to their family first.

I realized that it is not easy being a mom. Moms give everything that they can to finish and fulfill their responsibilities. An 8-hour of sleep is indeed a luxury and one cannot afford to get sick. I even called my Mama and to ask her if it is really like this wherein I get no sleep. Plus, there are unending needs of your "babies" while household chores are piling up. I asked her how did she cope with everything. My mom just laughed and told yes, it's like that.

Can you imagine life without mom? Watch this video and find out.

Tag your moms/ wife below and let them how much you appreciate them.

Is the Government Complaint Hotline 8888 really working?

The National Citizen's Complaints Hotline, also known as Hotline 8888 was launched last August 1, 2016. One will be able to access them via email or call using their home and mobile phones. It is free of charge for PLDT and Smart/ Sun subscribers while there is a Php 5 charge for Globe subscribers. Since I am a Globe subscriber and do not want to incur additional charges, I opted to contact them via email.

If you are wondering if our complaints against the government have finally stopped from falling on deaf ears, let me share with you a personal experience with the Citizen's Complaints Hotline.

This is not the first time I had encountered problems with Philpost or the Philippine Postal Service. In 2015, a friend from the US sent me an audio CD. I paid Php 100 for "taxes" but was surprised that my parcel was actually empty. My friend told me that she is 100% sure that she was able to send them but it has simply gone into thin air just like magic. I tried to raise my concern but they said they could not answer me.

Early last year, I signed up but with Procter and Gamble's Everyday Me program - a sampling site for the latest P&G products. I was lucky to get some samples but most of the time the samples that they send do not reach me, I contacted customer support and was told that it was shipped via our local post office and we can simply get in touch with them to follow-up. I called my local post office and said they would check. Tried this multiple times but I just got tired and never got them. I simply gave up.

Then, last July 22. AIP sent me GCs as a reward for participating in their surveys and to my dismay. It was not delivered to me again. It was sent last July 22 and should be delivered in 1-2 weeks. After the second week of waiting, I called our local post office and asked for the status. I provided them my reference number (since this is a registered mail) but they said they have no record of it. I was advised to call again when the delivery man is in the office to check the status only to be told that they do not have a record of it. I was advised to call back again after a few days to check if this mail has been forwarded to them. After multiple calls (more than 20), I was informed that nothing was forwarded to them and I need to check with the sender or the post office where the mail was sent.

Since my mail was from Cebu and it would be really hard to follow-up with them, I decided to ask help from Hotline 8888.

Here is the timeline of what happened:

10.03.16 - I sent an email to Contact Center ng Bayan asking for their help.
10.04.16 - They acknowledged my email and gave me a reference number.

11.10.16 - I received an email from the Cebu Central Post Office asking for more details about my complaint.
I had a series of email exchanges with Cebu PO. I was informed that my concern will be forwarded to a different post office in Cebu where my mail was processed. Honestly, by this time, I have lost interest in my missing parcel. It was not really that valuable that I can just let it go. Though inside of me, I feel that it is our right to have decent postal service in the country. With the rising age of e-commerce, it is about time that we have a reliable and trusted postal service from the government.

12.29.16 - I was surprised to get an email with a very long attachment. As you can see, it has been 3 months since I sent my initial complaint. I thought they have forgotten about my complaint or my concern was never forwarded to the other post office.

But I was wrong. During these times that I did not hear from them, I am so happy to say that my/ our government is working. Here are the other things that happened:

11.14.16 - This is the last day of my email exchange with the Cebu Central Post Office and Mr. Potian immediately sent a letter to Mandaue Central Post Office regarding my concern and sent them all the information that I have provided to them.

11.17.16 - Mandaue PO sent an email that this has been forwarded to Bacolod PO and they provided waybill number and other proof that it was indeed forwarded to my local post office.

11.29.16 - Civil Service Commission wrote to the Acting Postal Area Director regarding my complaint to follow-up and to ask them to act on this matter and requesting for feedback in 5 days after receipt.

12.01.16 - A report to the Department Manager for Central and Eastern Visayas regarding my complaint including the results of their investigation was submitted.

12.28.16 - A certification was issued about the status of my lost mail which I can use once I go to Bacolod PO. I need this because for the longest time they have been telling me that no mail reached them.

12.29.16 - I receive all these updates about my complaint.

- case closed -

It may take a lot of time to get a resolution but I am glad someone is acting on these complaints no matter how small or big it is. After a few days, I was notified by the sender that they got a returned mail and that they would resend my missing mail.

Coincidence? I do not think so. I think they have to do something about my missing mail because finally, the government has stopped being blind and deaf on all of these inefficiencies and complaints from ordinary citizens. These irregularities are no longer tolerated and it is about time that we are all treated as first-class Filipinos.

So, if you think you have issues or suggestions, don't hesitate to contact hotline 8888. They are very helpful and they are really working.
